Now that October is here, autumn is officially in full swing. Where I grew up in New England, October meant crisp days and chill nights. The spicy scent of leaves filled the air. Maple trees flamed on the hills in a burst of red and golden color.
We went into the pumpkin patch to choose the largest pumpkin to carve into a jack-o-lantern. Bonfires on Friday nights gave us a chance to roast hot dogs and warm our fingers before a snapping fire. Hayrides on the back roads with a star-filled sky overhead made some of my favorite fall memories.
Here in South Carolina where I live now, autumn isn’t as vivid, but it still has its own beauty.
I hope each and every one of you enjoy the beauties of autumn, making memories to reflect back upon in the years to come.
